Population

As of January 1, 2005, the population of the Bragin region was composed of the Belarusians (15,114 people or 86.8 per cent), Russians (853 people or 4.9 per cent), Ukrainians (1,269 people or 7.3 per cent) and other nationalities – 170 people (1 per cent).

Of them, 3,677 live in Bragin township, 2,206 – in Komarin township and 10,752 live in the rural areas. Some 5,020 citizens are not able-bodied, and 4,022 citizens are children (from 0 to 14 years old).

The region has one town council and 11 village councils.
